AGRI-PULSE LAUNCHES FARM BILL SERIES
Agri-Pulse reports:

Agri-Pulse, the nation's leading source of farm and food policy information, launched the first in a series of in-depth articles, "Every Farm Bill is Unique - the last one was a doozy," on www.Agri-Pulse.com.

Each part of the high-impact series, "The Seven Things You Should Know Before You Write the Next Farm Bill," will culminate in a Farm Bill Summit at the National Press Club on March 20.

"Most of our sources interviewed for this series said there was not one single factor that made the process drag on and on and on, from 2010 to 2014," explained Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant. "Instead, there was a combination of economic, fiscal, political and regional factors at play - the equivalent of a perfect storm in agricultural policy."

Initial reaction has been fantastic. Here are a few comments that Agri-Pulse has already received:

This is excellent! Exactly what people need to read. I hope everyone keeps this in their files.

Very good, and accurate review of the process to gain our current farm bill. It was painful! Let's pray that all of agriculture will work together in the process of creating this next farm bill.

Great piece! There is so much more to legislating than what textbooks suggest.

Required reading for policy nerds. Well done Sara Wyant and team. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Sponsors of the series include the American Farm Bureau Federation, American Sugar Alliance, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, National Crop Insurance Services, Environmental Defense Fund and the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance.

"Securing programs and policies in the 2018 farm bill that work for America's farm and ranch families requires that all of agriculture works closely together," says American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall. "The farm bill series and Summit will provide an essential platform so that congressional and administration staff members are fully aware of the many issues on the collective agenda of America's farmers and ranchers. We are pleased to help facilitate this comprehensive and collaborative effort with Agri-Pulse."

Wyant says that this multimedia effort and educational Summit is designed to foster a well-rounded discussion about the future of food and farm policy, as well as a deeper understanding of how all Americans benefit from a comprehensive farm bill.
