HSUS LAUNCHES NEW ANTI-PORK GESTATION STALL AD CAMPAIGN
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) has launched a new ad campaign targeting the pork industry and the use of gestation stalls.

HSUS CEO Wayne Pacelle announced the campaign in a recent blog. Pacelle said the campaign "exposes the pork industry for being in the backwater of animal welfare."

An ad developed by HSUS focuses on a recent comment about gestation stalls made by an employee of the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC). In a July 24th article on the National Journal web site, the NPPC employee questioned whether sows really care if they can turn around or not.

That comment prompted NPPC CEO Neil Dierks to issue a statement saying that the comments were inappropriate and "do not represent the views of our organization nor do they reflect the values of the hardworking American farmers who produce safe and nutritious pork for consumers around the world."

In his blog, Pacelle did not specify when or where the HSUS ads will appear.
