NEW STAFFERS JOIN WEBER SHANDWICK'S AGRICULTURE AND FOOD BUSINESS

The Minneapolis office of Weber Shandwick today announced three new hires in its Agriculture and Food Business specialty area.

Malissa Fritz, Krysta Larson and Megan Berg bring varied experience to the group. Each will work on a wide range of clients, including Dairy Management Inc., Midwest Dairy Association, Land O'Lakes, the National Pork Board, DuPont Pioneer and Cargill.

Malissa Fritz, an account director, will lead issues management and crisis preparedness efforts for agriculture and food business-to-business clients. She brings more than 12 years of experience in managing crisis communications, leading agriculture and consumer educational campaigns, and working closely with media and government representatives.

For more than a decade, Fritz led communications at the Minnesota Board of Animal Health through issues such as bovine tuberculosis and H1N1 and oversaw crisis communication plan development for avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease.

In 2011, Fritz was named to the American Farm Bureau Partners for Agricultural Leadership, an elite national agricultural leadership program. A native of Pipestone, Minn., Fritz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural journalism from South Dakota State University.

Krysta Larson, an account supervisor, brings more than a decade of experience in developing and executing marketing, outreach, and communication campaigns for agriculture, bio-products and environmental organizations.

Previously, Larson worked for the University of Minnesota, SRF Consulting Group Inc., Iowa State University and the Georgia Beef Board. She graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in marketing and Iowa State University with a Master of Arts degree in professional communication.

Megan Berg, an assistant account executive, joined the team after completing her internship at a Chicago-based digital firm.

While there, she facilitated the online presence of ConAgra Foods' brands, monitoring online conversation and continuously finding opportunities to engage with consumers. Berg hails from St. Paul, Minn., and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communications and Spanish from the University of Iowa.
